We have been reliably clued in as to which four operas are being cut from the 2009-10 season schedule. In addition to eliminating The Ghosts of Versailles and Die Frau ohne Schatten, which we announced a few days ago, the Met appears very likely to scrap plans for the revivals of Benvenuto Cellini and Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk.Currently, plans remain intact for the house premieres of From the House of the Dead and The Nose, as well as for the revival of Lulu.
Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk will be replaced by Ariadne auf Naxos.
